A perfect smile can only be achieved if one has a set of pearly white teeth. For those who have problems with their smile due to their stained teeth, it is never too late to have a teeth bleaching procedure. Tooth decay and stained tooth are just two of the many dental problems one face today. Teeth bleaching helps ease out these problems.
Problem concerning stained teeth is no longer a worry thanks to teeth bleaching. Bleaching is a process of eradicating the stains from teeth and making them white again. This is just like in skin bleaching, as it helps the teeth be free from any discoloration towards a pearly white teeth.
Staining of the teeth can be usually rooted to aging, smoking and drinking coffee or tea. The color from these agents is absorbed by the enamel over time.
It is very effective indeed to use bleaching to whiten one’s teeth whether applied to the entire teeth or to only a portion. Some stains, such as those located within the depths of the tooth, may not be whitened by the bleaching after all, as they are very hard to reach. Also some stains, such as fluorosis which is a brown or black spot found on the tooth, may be very hard to remove and sometimes can’t eradicated at all by bleaching.
Customized teeth bleaching is exercised as one can tell the dentist if the whitening procedure be done to the whole set of teeth of just a portion of it or even a few teeth only.
Because of this teeth bleaching procedure, the teeth can actually be 7 times whiter than before. The dentists usually provide the shade cards to the patients which will tell them how white their teeth can go by merely comparing it to theirs.
There is a big difference between commercial teeth whitening products and dental clinic visits. In dental visits, the dentist can check and make a personalized assessment of one’s tooth health. Then the shade card may be shown to them to visually show the extent of the whitening that can be done to one’s teeth. While some may take around 2-3 sessions before the effects can be perceived, others show quick results of teeth bleaching within 1 session only. In comparison to the commercial products, results are never guaranteed and may take a while.
As a follow up to the procedure, whitening toothpastes may be used. These help maintain the whiteness and cleanliness of the teeth. However, it is best to consult the dentist regarding these whitening toothpastes as some uses abrasion which may cause the teeth to lose its shine.
